I marked a light colored purse with ball point pen ink. Dishwashing detergent did not remove it - luckily the leather was not harmed - any ideas?

I recently painted my dark blue kitchen with a light colored exterior paint. I was able to cover the dark color beautifully with only two coats. A friend of mine later told me that exterior paint is much too toxic to use indoors. Is that true?

I am in the process of cleaning my open furdowns in the kitchen. Despite not frying often, they are dirty and I don't want to do it again. Has anyone done anything special like lying newspaper or anything down so that when it does get dirty you can throw that away and start all over? I have a number of brass items and I have let them go -- the brass shiny finish that attracted me to them is no longer there.
