Combine your coupons with sales!

I clip coupons for items that I buy on a regular basis and items that I would buy if I could get them for a really cheap price or even free. You would be surprised at how many items go on sale at your local retailer within 1-4 weeks from the time a coupon for that same item is distributed. I combine my coupons with sales when possible to maximize my savings. I also hold on to my coupons until the day they expire, because you never know when you will run into a great deal!

Return Envelopes

Online bill paying has taken over using the mail for most of us. I use the return envelopes, with the little windows, to organize my coupons, then I write my grocery shopping list on the envelope. It's easy to handle and can be recycled after use.

In the Time of a Recession

I spend hours collecting coupons from newspapers, the Internet, magazines and anywhere I can find them. In the average month, I save $175 to $250 on food and household items. The savings are used at the end of the month to buy things of want instead of need. Movies, dinner out, makeup, things that normally get a second thought on buying are now in the budget with the savings from coupons.

Easy-to-find Coupons

I bought some baseball card holder pages and put my coupons alphabetically in those sheets in an empty three-ring binder. Everything is easy to see at a glance and SO easy to find. I get compliments on my book everytime I go to the store!

Write a Nice Letter!

When I find a product I really like, I write the company an e-mail and tell them how great I think their product is. They almost always respond with coupons and samples! I did this with my dog food, one of the few things I don't buy generic, and they sent a ton of coupons!

Saving Money

When you clip coupons, put them in envelopes for each month of expiration. When you are ready to do your shopping, use the sales in each store to make your list; then go to your envelopes to use your coupons.
