Disinfecting hands on the go

Keep a pump bottle of hand sanitizer IN YOUR CAR. Use it each time you enter the car after touching surfaces in stores which may be contaminated with flu virus. Wipe down the steering wheel, too.

Keep lettuce fresher, longer

Everyone know that wrapping lettuce in Scott Towels will increase freshness, but go one step further. When you buy a head of Iceberg lettuce, immediately cut the head in half. Discard bottom core and any brown areas. Throw away tight inner leaves that are usually yellow and bitter. The lettuce is now easier to pull the leaves off intact. Keep lettuce in air-tight container covered in Scott Paper Towels. \

Turn Turkey into a Delicious Meatloaf

If you've purchased frozen turkey burgers but found they were too bland, try this. Thaw patties in the fridge, then crumble them into a bowl. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion, parsley and a dash of Worchestershire sauce. To hold the mix together, add 1/3 to 1/2 cup unprepared instant potato flakes. Flakes are a better binding agent than bread crumbs because they add no additional taste to the main ingredients. Shape the mixture into a short loaf. Fry or bake until cooked thoroughly. The formerly bland turkey burger is now a flavorful and moist meatloaf, but with much less fat than ground beef. Spread some Dijon mustard on top of the loaf for an even zestier taste!

Organize Once, Remove Paper Clutter Forever!

To consolidate financial documents and other important papers, invest in a file cabinet or similar set-up. For each account I have, I label a folder for that account. After paying the invoice, it's filed in its own folder. After I pay a property tax or a potential tax deductible item, that invoice goes directly into my income tax folder. When I prepare my taxes, all the data I need is in one folder; I don't waste time gathering data from different places or wonder if I forgot a deductible item. Other files hold appliance and electronics manuals and warranty information, which can be quickly located should I need to troubleshoot a problem. When I no longer have the item, the manual is tossed.

Preserving Old Family Photos

If you have pre-digital-era photographs you'd like to preserve, a quick and inexpensive alternative to professional restoration is to scan them into your computer. The improved photo editing software is capable of restoring, to some degree, the washed-out look that comes with age. You can copy the scanned pictures to a CD and have a picture library stored in a very small space. An added bonus to doing them yourself is that with each picture you scan, the good times of that moment are recalled. When I find pictures of relatives, especially the ones long gone, I e-mail them to my other family members so we can all share again the wonderful times past.

Sparkling Clean Toilet Bowl

Here's a quick way to maintain cleanliness of the toilet bowl rim and seat between regular cleanings. Always keep a bottle of Clorox Clean Up or other spray disinfectant handy. Spray on the seat and rim of the toilet bowl after each use. Grab some SCOTT® Tissue off the roll, and wipe around top and sides of the rim and seat. Cleanup is quick and the paper is easily disposed of with a flush. It only takes about a minute, and you'll never have to worry that the toilet isn't 100% spotless... especially if friends drop by unexpectedly!

Keep Toilet Surfaces Spotless!

If you want a clean and spotless toilet between bowl cleanings, keep a spray bottle of bleach cleanser within reach. Each time you or your family member uses the commode, just lift the seat, spray the rim of the toilet, seat and cover. Don't forget to spray the flush handle. Grab some SCOTT toilet tissue and wipe down all the surfaces. Flush the SCOTT tissue and you have a shiny -- and equally important -- sanitary toilet in just seconds.
