Digital Camera

A digital camera is wonderful. They pay for themselves in ONE vacation. I took almost 500 pictures on our trip to Alaska to visit our kids, and was able to pick the best ones to print when I got home.

Fix Wilted Celery

When your celery stalk starts to get limp, cut off the bottom (root end), and set it upright in a glass of cold water. By morning it should be straight and crisp again.

Handy Clothes Hangers

I have to admit that I got this idea from Candi in Odessa's tip. Now every tme I take something off a hanger in my closet, I move the hanger to one side of the bar. When I have to add clean clothes to the closet, all the hangers are easy to find.

Clean Sheets, No Folding

When it's "clean sheets day," I strip the bed first thing in the morning, stuff the sheets in the washer and, as soon as they are clean, I hang then on the line to dry. By the time the next load has finished washing, I can take them off the line and make up the bed. We live in a very dry place, but this would be easy if you use a dryer, too. It's so much easier than folding all those sheets!

Very Inexpensive Bottled Water

Buy a couple of reusable water bottles and fill them with water from the tap. Since we live in an area that has the best water in the country, I don't have to worry about what is in the bottled water and it costs a lot less.

Use that Clothesline

I save a lot of electricity by hanging my clothes on the line. Not everything every time -- the permanent press still get tossed in the dryer -- but the heavy towels, undies, socks and sweatshirts go on the line.
