Keep Knives Sharp

To keep your cutlery sharp put the sharpener in a drawer or cabinet near the cuterly block. That way it is handy to run a knife through the sharpener before each use so your knives are always sharp and ready for use.

Damp SCOTT Paper Towel

After I do the dishes I wipe up water around the sink with a SCOTT(r) Paper Towel. I continue to use the towel as I wipe up the counters after the kids are done with lunch or breakfast.

Trouble Opening A Jar?

Most everyone has a personal computer, that can serve a dual purpose. Mouse pads can do double duty by helping open stuck jars. The rubber bottom grips the jar while the top provides a soft and flexible surface to apply enough pressure to open those difficult jars.

Preparing Bottles for Night Feedings

I've found that when trying to make a bottle in the middle of the night when you can't see clearly and may possibly be holding your hungry, squriming baby, it's easier to pre-measure the formula into those travel powder formula containers. I also have the water waiting in the bottles, so I only have to use one motion to pour the formula into the bottle instead of counting scoops and trying to make it in the bottle.

Eliminate a Fire Hazard

If you use dryer sheets, remove your dryer's lint filter at least every few months and scrub it with a toothbrush soaked in hot, soapy water. The dryer sheet coating that makes your clothes soft and static free can build up on your lint screen and cause a fire. A clean filter can also help reduce your electric bill.

Pesky Fruit Flies

To get rid of pesky fruit flies, pour 1/2 inch of apple cider vinegar and 2 drops of dishwashing liquid into a small glass. Mix well. The flies will be drawn to the liquid and gone forever!

Fruit & Veggie Wash

I keep a small spray bottle filled with diluted dishwashing liquid next to the kitchen sink, along with my box of baking soda. Anytime I'm preparing to eat fruits or vegetables, I rub them with a quick spray and a dusting of baking soda, then rinse well. The spray also is handy to rinse off a barely used plate or utensil.
