Healthy Hints - Family Health

Medicine Info. Always Handy

Every time we have to go to the doctor or hospital, we are asked for our current medications. Try making a list of meds with the RX#, name, dosage, when last refilled and when refill is due. Every month, update the list. I carry a copy with me and give it to whomever needs it. It saves so much time and, boy, the doctors and nurses are so grateful!

Time Savers - Cleaning & Laundry

Two Birds, One Towel

Since I have a power toothbrush that has a two-minute brushing reminder, I use those two minutes to brush my teeth AND clean off my bathroom counter at the same time. I put away hairspray, makeup, brushes etc. and have time to wipe it down with a Scott Towel as well. I also get more use out of the towel by wiping down the toilet quickly and voila, I have "cleaned" two birds with one towel!

Save space in the freezer & cupboards.

I remove food items that come in cardboard boxes, such as freezer waffles, toaster pastries, packages of soup; and put them in freezer bags. If there are instructions, I cut them out and slip them into the bag. It saves a lot of space and keeps things fresher.

Cleaning your clothes dryer lint trap

Save your USED fabric softener sheets. When you need to clean your lint screen on your clothes dryer, don't rub your nails or hands all over it, just use one of the USED dryer sheets and the lint wipes clean instantly!

Toothbrush

Don't throw away that old toothbrush. It is so handy for many cleaning jobs. Great for cleaning battery connections, scrubbing in tight places, cleaning combs, dirty fingernails, etc.

Dollars & Sense - Shopping

Price Match

Always shop stores that price match other store prices. Look at the ads when making your shopping list. Cut out the ads with the prices you want to match and take them with you when you shop. Place the items with the ads on the belt first and go through them with the cashier so she can give you the correct discount.

Dryer Lint

Place a tupperware container on dryer (large enough to hold lint from several loads). Empty lint into it after every load. Keeps dryer safe and clean and you only make a trip to trashcan once every laundry day instead of back and forth after every load!
