Think First

Before you use bleaches, disinfectants and other chemical based cleaning products, think about where it is going to end up. Our oceans? Our drinking water? Think about the environment first. There are sorts of eco-friendly alternatives. Obviously you all here have a computer, so Google your heart out and ease your conscience and contribute to a solution.

Eco-friendly Copper Cleaner

Use equal amounts of flour, white vinegar and table salt to create a very inexpensive, easy-to-apply paste to clean copper kitchenware and pots and pans. Gently rub it on, wait a minute, then rinse with warm water and towel dry. Don't use on decorative laquered pieces.

Did you know...?

Almost all paper and plastic cardboard roll dispensers have push-in tabs on each end to make dispensing foil and plastic wrap smoother and easier. This is a blessing, considering all the frustration and wasted plastic wrap when you can't find the end.

Sparkling Shower Walls

I was disgusted with the filthy condition of a shower in the house I moved into, so I used car cut/wax to safely remove the grit and grime. I then applied Gel Gloss, a product used to polish fiberglass boats (and prevent salt and other build-ups). Now water beads up on my shower walls. I just give it a quick wipe with the used bath towel or SCOTT® Towels to absorb the water beads. These two steps took a bit of elbow grease at first, but it has been over a year now, so it was well worth it. The shower is spotless after a quick wipe dry.

Keep Stainless Steel Spotless

Tired of fingerprints and smears on your beautiful stainless steel large and small appliances? Dab some commom mineral oil on a SCOTT® Towel and wipe the surfaces. This removes the smudges and conditions the stainless steel to prevent spots from reappearing so quickly. It's very economical too, vs. store-bought polishes. It works well on any brushed nickel you have, such as coffee table legs.
