cleaning up a big puddle of water

I had a big water puddle in the basement. Using a sponge mop was too slow so I cut the elastic on a couple disposable diapers, put them face down in the puddle and VOILA no more water, and they didn't drip!

Everyday Sense - Simple Fixes

Saving the Last of the Lipstick

When your lipstick gets too far down in the tube to use on the lips, use a cotton swab to get the last out and use as a creme blush. It's already a color you know you like, and you don't want it to go to waste.

Put a couple of SCOTT® Towels in the bottom of any reusable lunch tote to capture any surpise leaks or spills. It will also minimize odors!

Making that Expensive Lettuce Last

Remove lettuce from store wrapping; remove any outside leaves that are less than fresh. Wrap the whole head in at least 2 layers of SCOTT® Towels. Keep in the veggie crisper drawer of refigerator. I can keep lettuce fresh for 3 times as long as normal with this method.

Keep the slime off the lettuce

If using a plastic bag to store lettuce, place a folded paper towel in the bag. It absorbs extra moisture, and keeps the slime at bay for a few more days. If you change the paper towel every couple days, it lasts even longer.
