Everyday Sense - Simple Fixes

no more garden weeding

I start saving cardboard, now, for spring time planting. As soon as the sprouts begin to show, I lay cardboard in between the rows of vegies. Placed neatly, there is hardly any having to weed the garden at all. The cardboard disintegrates over he winter, adding moisture to my rock hard soil. Every year the soil gets a little softer.

Too many Q-Tips?

I use the small plastic swipes box when it is empty and fill it with Q-tips. It's a much smaller box and I can keep some in my room and in the bathroom.

waxing my floor

I may be a little old fashioned, but, still at age 55, I like to do my floors by hand. When waxing, after a few squirts, I ring the wax out of the rag onto the next section, and sometimes keep ringing the same rag out. I only dip it in the water 2 times. It saves on the expense of buying more floor wax all the time.

Return Address Labels use

Putting return address labels on things you lend out was a good tip, but I also keep a sheet of return address labels with me when I go to a carnival or church picnic and have to put my name on a lot of tickets for tricky trays etc...easier than writing your name so many times.

being safe in cold weather

Winter's here and you never know if something may happen to your car. Our car is older, and I don't take a chance if the car should break down. So, in our car and in my daughter's, hats scarves and gloves are at our convenience if something should happen. Better safe than sorry!

Low cost baby wipes

Instead of buying expensive store made baby wipes, buy the short white paper towels and make your own. Use a tupperware type container and put in 2 T of baby oil, 2 T of baby body wash, and 1/2 cup of water. Mix well and place the roll of towels in the container. After a few min. pull the paper roll out of the paper towels and pull the towels out from the center as you need them. Much $$$ saved!
