Easy Organizing - Storage Ideas

Empty SCOTT Cardboard Rolls

Keep your knives in the rolls, so no one gets cut looking for one. I organize my rolls in the draw, small to large. I put the sharp edges in the rolls leaving the handles out. You can even spray paint the cardboard to make them look better.

When using microwave oven for heating or reheating food, cover food with dampened SCOTT® Towel. This will keep the food moist and reduce splatter.

Keeping Lettuce Fresh

When you get a new head of lettuce, take it out of the wrapper & put it in a stainless steel bowl. I put a SCOTT Towel folded up in the bottom to stabilize it. Cover the bowl in plastic cling wrap and put it in the back of the refrigerator. It will stay fresh until the whole head is used up. My grandfather taught me this trick & it has saved me many wasted heads of lettuce. Only wash & use what you want when you need it & then put the head back in the bowl with the cling wrap. I've had heads of lettuce last a month this way.

Molasses or Maple Syrup

When a recipe calls for molasses or maple syrup, spray the measuring cup first with nonstick spray. It will just slide right out, and you will not have any waste.

Reusing Envelopes

I pay many of my bills online, but I save the envelopes included in the statements. I reuse them for sending things into school for the kids, or whenever possible, I use them for mailing other things. I haven't bought envelopes in a long time!

Tissue Roll Napkin Rings

I make napkin rings out of SCOTT® Tissue and Towel rolls. Cut the rolls at 2-inch intervals, cover with felt or other material, and decorate with glitter, jewels or whatever you choose to match your decor. They can make great gifts!

Reusable Gift Wrap

I use fabric remnants for gift wrapping. There are so many pretty prints and patterns that you can pick up at your local fabric store. You can also recycle old clothing that may not be fit to wear or donate, but can be salvaged for wrapping. Tie your packages with coordinating ribbon for a very festive look! They are reusable year after year and don't create trash.

Remove Nail Polish

I use a SCOTT Towel to remove my nail polish. It's sturdier than tissues or cotton balls or other standard nail polish removers.
