quick tip for cleaning silverware.

I have found that dipping my silverware into a bowl of tomato juice cleans off the tarnish in a hurry. I discovered this hint quite by accident, years ago while canning tomatoes and tomato juice. Joann, Delphi, In.

Getting rid of junk mail.

I have a good sized paper shredder, and I shred all the "black and white" junk mail and put it in "used plastic bags for recycle ever week or so. I do not shred the "colored printed" paper because I am not sure that is reusable because of the ink. So I use separate used plastic bags for it. I do this every day, at my desk at home, but it could be done once a week. I also line my shredder container with several bags, and I also keep (under my desk) several used plastic bags. Washing Machine Odor

No need to buy anything to keep your washer from smelling. After you do a load of wash keep the door open or ajar until the inside is dry. My mother taught me this back in the 50's when she used her wringer washer.

smoke odor in material

To remove the smoke odor from material try - 1 cup baking soda ,1 cup vinegar and some laundry detergent to your washer and wash as normal. Add softener as usual. Repeat if necessary. Use laundry detergent in washer and run it thru a cycle to get the odor out of the washer. While the washer is filling with the detergent and water , take a cloth and put it in the washer to get the soap and water on it and clean the inside of your dryer too. That way you will get rid of the smoke odor out of washer and dryer at the same time.

your purse and shopping

To keep your purse safe while shopping you can wrap the child seat belt around your purse strap several times but the thief could just open your purse.. Better still have a purse that has a long strap or a fanny purse and wear it around your waist with the purse in front of you . I dare a thief to try to get it off of you..

EasyTick Removal

Here is a good way to get ticks off you, your children, or your pets. Give it a try. Please forward to anyone with children... or hunters or dogs, or anyone who even steps outside in summer!! I had a pediatrician tell me what she believes is the best way to remove a tick. This is great, because it works in those places where it's sometimes difficult to get to with tweezers: between toes, in the middle of a head full of dark hair, etc. Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball and swab it for a few seconds (15-20), the tick will come out on its own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away. This technique has worked every time I've used it (and that was frequent.
