Saving $ on electricity and dishwasher soap.

I use the top rack of my dishwasher to drain and dry my hand washed dishes, and air dry or hand dry. I use the previous day's towel on the lower rack and catches run off water. I have saved over $75./per month in electricity and dishwashing soap. When the holiday or company comes , I use the dishwasher but now and again family pitch in to dry while I still wash...its family time in the kitchen. I have saved over $900. this year.

Longer Lasting Paper Towels

Lot's of the ladies that I've come in contact with say they think paper towels are to expensive. They say their kids don't even use them completely. I suggested cut your sheet of paper towel in four pieces and give them only one piece at a time. They were pleased to find out the roll of paper towels lasts long and does not cost a lot after all.

Saving Ketchup Packets

When you buy fast food, ask for ketchup and save the packets you didn't use. Put them in a zip-loc bag as you go. When you go out to the park or beach or even camping, you don't have to bring your huge ketchup bottle from your house or buy a small one, just bring the ketchup packets you have been saving. You can also do this with BBQ sauce, hot sauce, mayo, and many other packets. Saves money, space, and it's easy to do.

Celery

Keep celery fresh by wrapping it in tin foil. It will stay fresh and crisp for about a month. I have never had a problem with it staying fresh since I started using the foil.

Save Your Gloves

After finishing the Scott paper towels or toilet paper, cut the bag it was wrapped in into pieces a little larger than your hand. Use one to pick up your kitchen trash can and the other to open up your large recepticle outside. When you've returned to the kitchen, drop the piece into the trash.

Re-seasoning A Cast Iron Skillet

Pour a little vegetable oil into your cast iron skillet, heat to medium-low, then take a corn tortilla and fry it. Spin it around the pan with your fingers and continue on both sides of the tortilla. You may want to do 2 or more tortillas. Cut them and use for chips, or use for tacos, quesadillas, etc. Then, after the pan cools a bit, wipe any excess oil with a Scott paper towel, and the pan is now seasoned. Never use the pan with tomatoes or tomato based products. That will take away the seasoning.
