Living in a rural area, errands are an event -- a 30-mile round trip. Limit trips by grouping errands together. Make a list: post office, groceries, bank, etc. If applicable, revolve the list around doctor's appointments and school events.
Organize your grocery list and coupons so that they follow the layout of the store. For instance, tomatoes and lettuce are in aisle one, so they are the first things on your list.
Hate cutting in the shortening every time you go to make homemade biscuits? With a mixer, cut in the shortening for several batches of biscuits. Then store it in a canister. When you go to make biscuits, figure one cup of mix for two biscuits.
When I was rolling my pie crust, for some reason a SCOTT Towel fell on the crust. So I said, why not see if I can roll the crust without flour on it. The SCOTT Towel worked beautifully, and cleanup was so easy! I only used two towels to clean up.
Measure dry ingredients for a recipe into a sifter or mesh strainer. Then sift the ingredients onto a clean SCOTT® Towel. Fold up the towel into a cone shape to add the dry ingredients to the recipe. This makes for easier clean-up and fewer dishes to wash.
I measure out coffee and prepare five to eight coffee filters at a time and keep them in a basket with a lid on it. Each night, I just have to grab the basket and pop a pre-filled filter in the coffee maker, add water and set the timer for the next morning. It saves a lot of time on a busy morning!
Do part of the laundry at night. Put a load of clothes in the washer before you go to bed.
For a quick bathroom cleaning when company is on their way, take window cleaner with ammonia in it, spray it on toilets and counters and wipe up with SCOTT Towels. This also works as a quick spot clean-up on kitchen counters too!
