Place the frozen meat product still in its original wrapping into a zip-top bag. Fill your sink with COLD water. Immerse and walk away for a couple of hours. It's far better than using a microwave to thaw, since sometimes it tends to precook. I thawed a 1-1/2 pound "brick" of hamburger this way. I will never let it sit on the counter or in the refrigerator again.
For a fast, fun and festive centerpiece this holiday, take glass ornament balls that match your decor, and place them in a glass bowl. Place small candles around the glass bowl so the flames will dance off the mirrored glass!
I brush and floss my teeth in the shower while I have conditioner on my hair. I have discovered that I actually spend more time brushing them and I always remember to floss. The result is healthy hair and teeth.
Use the small individual cups from applesauce to divide smaller amounts of ingredients when assembling a recipe. It saves on using larger measuring cups or containers and makes for easier clean up.
For years, the women in our family (and extended family) have been exchanging ornaments with each other on Thanksgiving Day. Originally theses were homemade, though throughout the years we've "customized" them by purchasing just about anything we see throughout the year that reflects "us." It's simple to turn a small trinket into an ornament and personalize it with a glue gun and a glitter pen. Taking out our ornaments each year brings back MANY, MANY fond Thanksgiving memories.
Stripping old wallpaper CAN be a pain. To make it a wonderful smelling breeze, just add liquid fabric softener and water to a spray bottle. The paper AND the glue behind it comes off easily and it leaves your work area smelling fresh.
When you put your clean linens on your bed, take a couple extra minutes to pin together the top of the sheets, blankets and comforter. (Use big safety pins you can find in either the sewing section or craft section, like old diaper pins.) It only takes about 4, spaced apart. In the morning before you leave, it takes just a couple of pulls and toss on the pillows. This works really great with kids and husbands!
Kids always want soft, chewy cookies. So if your cookies came out a bit crisper or drier than intended, load them into the cookie jar and place 1/4th of an apple (skin side down) on the top of the cookies and put the lid on. Your cookies will be bakery-soft by morning. No kidding, and no wasted cookies.
