Garden Basket

I keep a wicker basket on my front porch. Inside I keep a roll of SCOTT® Towels, a box of baby wipes, insect repellent, kitchen shears, a bottle of cheap dish detergent, trowel, and several rolled up grocery bags. Every evening I take my basket on a little tour of my yard and begin to dead head my flowers ,weed, etc. and put waste into my grocery bags. I can apply the insect repellent before I start and use my heavy duty kitchen shears on trimming small bushes. Afterwards I can take my basket to the garden hose and use the dish detergent for cleanup, drying them with the paper towels. The baby wipes are good for face and neck cleanup. It really keeps everything tidy.

Reducing Paper Clutter

Keep a paper shredder in your kitchen. It's perfect for shredding junk mail, reducing clutter. Get a quality shredder that includes a credit card shredder and multiple sheet shredder. This will save you time with less jams and aggravation. You can also make a decorative cover for your paper shredder too, so it fits in with your decor.

Clear Non-Stick Ice Cubes

I find that refilling the ice cube trays with warm or hot water gives us clear ice cubes. They also tend to freeze quicker, and do not stick in the tray as much, making removal much easier.

Menu Calendar

Design a printable menu calendar or list to keep track of your dinners for the week. That way everyone knows what's for dinner, and you can make sure you have all the necessary ingredients on your list before you go shopping.

Saving Time & Mess

When putting a new trash bag in your wastebasket, put a sheet or two of SCOTT® Towels in the bottom of the basket. That way if any wet stuff leaks through, the SCOTT Towel will soak it up and reduce your cleanup time.

Saving Steps in an Old Home

I live in an old two-story home. I found myself going up and down stairs all day with stuff. So I bought a tiny laundry basket-type container and keep it at the bottom of the staircase. Then I add what needs to go upstairs during the day, such as toothpaste, SCOTT Tissue, shampoo and anything small from my shoppong trips. I pick it up on my way to bed. I keep it at the top of the stairs at night to return anything that should go downstairs. Now instead of going up and down stairs all day, I only go up once at night and down once in the morning. If you have children, of course, put the little basket up on a counter and not ON the steps where they could trip.

Weekly Preparation

After you have washed clothes on the weekend, iron your clothes for the week on Sunday. Have your children put their socks in their shoes the night before and set out the outfit he/she will be wearing the next day. This saves time in the morning. No one has to look for shoes, socks or clothes, because it's already been laid out the night before.

Cleaning Ashtrays for Smokers

After you clean your ashtray, spray it with furniture polish. It makes future cleanings a breeze and smells nice when they put out their cigarettes. I don't smoke in the house, but I still use this tip for outdoor ashtrays.
