Extra Meal Prep

When cutting up those veggies for a meal, cut up a few extra each time. Collect and store them in a zip-top bag in the freezer until the bag is full and you need a quick dinner! Stir fry those veggies, add rice/noodles or even leftover meat. It's easy enough to adapt to whatever meal size you need! Enjoy!

Quick and Easy Spaghetti Dinner

I usually make a large pot of tomato sauce three times a year. When the sauce is done and has cooled completely, I fill several quart-size freezer bags, making sure that I let out the air. I lay them flat in my freezer. When I need tomato sauce for dinner, I take out a bag from my freezer and have dinner within 20 minutes.

SCOTT to the Rescue in the Kitchen

I needed cheese cloth to strain vegetables and seasoning from a thick broth and didn't have cheesecloth in the house. I used SCOTT SHOP TOWELS ON A ROLL. They turned out to be quite sturdy and did the job quite well -- so well indeed that I used them when needed to strain my homemade jelly. Simply use them as you would cheese cloth, then discard in your compost pile for next year's garden. They are less expensive than cheese cloth too.

Buttering Corn on the Cob

Place 1/4 pound of margarine in a zip-top bag and add a pinch of salt. Place hot ears of corn (about 6 of the small ears) in the bag, close it up and shake. Perfectly buttered and seasoned corn!

Freezing Hamburger Meat

Put one-pound portions of hamburger in a freezer bag and flatten the meat into a slab rather than a chunk. Double the bag to prevent burn. Then, when it's time to thaw it, just open bag and the "thin slab" thaws very fast.

Chicken Skin Removal

To remove skin on a chicken leg or thigh, just take a Scott Towel and wrap it around the meat. Pull, and the skin comes off easily in one piece.

Cleaning Chicken

When cleaning chicken, use a Scott Towel to pull the skin off to prepare it for cooking!!! It really works great, and you can just toss it (and any germs) away!

No Sog-City Salads Here!!

I usually get appointed to make the macaroni salad for either our firehouse, sheriff's department, or Moose Lodge fundraisers. To reduce the "sog factor," I place 5-6 SCOTT Towels in each soon-to-be-refrigerated zipper bag to collect the "drainage" off all the diced-up all the veggies cut the night before (celery, tomatoes, onions, green peppers). I do the same for the drained elbow macaroni and peeled eggs. This salad always is crunchy, sought after and the FIRST 10 pound tray to disappear!
