Clean-ups on the Deck

I have a paper towel holder, with a roll of SCOTT® Towels on it, on my covered deck. I also have a basket for small bottles of surface cleaner and glass cleaner. It sure makes life easier having SCOTT Towels handy for any spills and clean-up after cooking on the grill and eating on the deck.

Keep Vehicle Carpet Clean

I buy vinyl carpet runners and cut them to fit the floorboard in my van and my husband's truck. When it's time to clean the vehicle, I take the vinyl runners out, spray them down and let them dry while I clean the rest of the vehicle. There is very little that I have to vacuum, and the runners protect the carpets from spilled drinks.

The Lotion Trick

If little hands are sticky and you are out of hand wipes and nowhere close to a sink, use a little bit of baby lotion on a towel. Rub the hands well, and they come perfectly clean (or at least good enough until you can get to a sink). Plus, the lotion moisturizes the hands.

Keeping Your Recipes Clean

To keep a recipe clean, whether printed off the Internet or out of your cookbook, use a plastic sleeve protector. Spills wipe off when you are finished, saving your pages for another use.

SCOTT Swiper

To clean hard-to-reach windows, you can use SCOTT Towels on your disposable head mop. Just spray a little window cleaner on the towel and clean away!

Pitch Remover

Don't you hate it when you get pitch from a tree or board on your clothes or hands? I worked with lumber for a long time and got this tip from an old timer. Just reach for a bottle of 76% "rubbing alcohol." It quickly removes pitch with ease. This has worked a great many times for me.

Dual Purpose Coffee Filters

I tend to pack a sloppy, gloppy sandwich for my lunch. Now, before I place this messy sandwich in the sandwich bag, I nestle it inside a coffee filter. When I pull my sandwich out of the bag with the filter at the base, none of my goodies remain in the bag. It's still between the bread, where it belongs. It also keeps your fingers clean while trying to eat your mess.

Quick Carpet and Fabric Cleaning

When a stain on your carpeting or upholstery occurs, take quick, easy action. First take SCOTT Towels and blot the stain until no more stain appears on the towels. Next take a bubbling bath cleaning aerosol spray and shake the can for at least 60 seconds so the foam is stiff. Spray on the carpet stain, or in the case of fabric, spray on a white terry cloth towel and dab the fabric. For carpeting, take a soft brush and work the spray into the stain. This works for old stains too, but a second or third spray maybe required. When carpet and fabric dries, there will not be any residue. I discovered this trick on my own and it works! I've shared my discovery with many friends, and they all remark how great it works!
