After you throw your trash away, place a dryer sheet at the bottom of the trash can and it will keep the odor away.
To prevent yourself and your hands from smelling of garlic, simply rub your hands against your stainless steel sink, and the smell will go away in a minute.
Pour a couple of cups of white vinegar into the toilet bowl and let stand for a few minutes. Scrub the bowl with toilet brush. Not only does vinegar kill germs, but it clean stains, etc. from the bowl. It's an easy and cheap cleaner -- and safe for the environment.
Pour about a cup of baking soda down the garbage disposal and regular drains, followed by a cup or two of vinegar. Let it "bubble" for a few minutes, then run hot water down the drains for a couple of minutes. This will not only make your drains smell better, but it will loosen up small clogs.
Spills happen in cupboards in the kitchen, bath or laundry room. I don't want curious bugs snooping around my cupboards, so once a month, I line my shelves with SCOTT Towels. Then when I am cleaning a room, I simply remove the old SCOTT Towel and put in new ones. Because they are on a roll, it makes the job that much easier. I put the old SCOTT Towels in with our paper recycling. They can also be used to clean up areas in the garage and cleaning outside furniture and patio shelves before discarding them.
I frequently change my nursing pads and often find they only have small spot of dampness. So I recycle them by using them to swipe the hair out of my tub and shower walls. It works really well. It may sound a little unsanitary, but I am not concerned with this as I was told to drop milk in my daughter's eye to heal her clogged tear ducts!
I use a sheet of wax paper on my counter top instead of chopping board. Just chop or peel on waxed paper and when finished, toss away the mess. It's also great for dredging chicken, meats or whatever. There's no extra dish to wash.
It is easier to keep a clean kitchen if you clean up as you go.
