Open the perfume samples that are inserted in magazines, and put them under the liner in your trash cans. They emit a wonderful scent that lasts quite a while.
Do some people in your house have smelly shoe issues? If they do, you can take a fabric softener sheet and put it in their shoes. It can stay in the shoes even while they're wearing them. Change the sheets as needed.
To get the odors out of your microwave place a saucer in the microwave with a little water and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Start the microwave for 1 minute.
After detailing your car, place dryer sheets under the floor mats for a fresh smell for up to two weeks!
A great way to freshen your linen closet is to tuck scented dryer sheets between the towels, bed sheets, etc. The scent will freshen your entire closet and linens will be nicely scented when used. You'll also save on air fresheners! After time, rather than discarding used dryer sheets, which usually still carry a light scent, you can place them in your family's undergarment or clothing drawers instead of sachets or perfumed soaps!! Either way, you'll be using "COMMON SCENTS"!
When you open that paint can, also prepare to eliminate the lingering odor. Lay a SCOTT Towel on a tray or large plate. Slice a raw onion on the SCOTT Towel. Place the onion anywhere in the room while you are painting. Turn over the onion slices halfway through your painting day. At clean up time, just throw away the onion and most of the paint smell.
When going on a vacation, we always take all the trash out before we leave so the house won't smell bad when we return. I just tried something else on my own, when I left to go to the NHRA races in Indiana, I put a cup of bleach in the kitchen sink. When I returned home three days later, the house smelled as if I had just cleaned it. This is cheap and it really works.
To make your house smell good when you vacuum, scatter a few whole cloves on the carpet and vacuum them up. It will smell great!
