Baking Soda

I soak my fruits and vegetables in a bowl of cold water with 1-2 tbsp of baking soda and leave produce soaking for 10-15 minutes and then just rinse. Baking soda is not harmful and takes the pesticides off the fruits and veggies.

More Protein, Less Sugar

When my 5 year old grandson visits, I add one drop of food coloring to his eggs. He gets to pick the color and it works with fried or scrambled. He begs for colored eggs and doesn't even want the sugary cereal! If your frying the eggs, put a little margarine in the pan, and put just one drop of color on each egg. When you flip it over it colors the whole egg. He has a lot of fun and gets an extra bit of protein in his diet!

Drain off the Grease

SCOTT® Towels on a roll are durable, handy in the kitchen, and help keep meals healthy. After you brown ground beef, drain off the extra grease using a SCOTT® Towel and a colander. Simply line the colander with a sheet of SCOTT® Towel, pour in the browned meat, let it sit for a minute or two, then return the beef to the pan and continue your recipe. Don't throw the towel in the trash! Add it to your compost pile for your garden. This way you really do save money for future kitchen problems that could occur from too much grease in the pipes. It also helps to keep your water supply healthy by not adding grease to our rivers and streams.

Freezing Bread

When freezing bread, put a square of SCOTT® Towel in with the bread. Then, when it thaws out, the towel absorbs the moisture and keeps the bread fresh as new.
