I buy a few of those old fashioned fly strips in mid-August and hang them high over my trash cans that are sitting in my attached garage near my kitchen door. It keeps down the green flies in the house!
When making a cup of tea with teabags that come individually wrapped, use the outer wrap to squeeze the liquid out of the tea bag to get all the good stuff out! Easy and no mess!
Cut the top off a 2-liter soda pop bottle and use it as a funnel for filling your bird feeders. Since I have multiple feeders. I use a bucket to transport seed, and a cup and homemade funnel to fill. Less waste!
Have the dog days of summer left your front porch pots dry and withered? Just pick up a few artificial silk bouquets of geraniums or sunflowers or ferns on sale. Pull the dried and dead flowers off and replace with artificial silk flowers in the pots or hanging baskets. From across the street, no one will know and it will look much better than the dying plants.
Draining excess hot fats from frying and cooking vessels is often messy and can be extremely dangerous. Instead of using a spoon, ladle or baster to remove the hot liquid, use an unscented paper towel to soak it up, and simply toss it in the trash or an empty food container. Using cooking tongs to hold the paper towel, you can easily blot up as little or as much as you like, without the risk of spilling, splattering or fire, and the oil soaked towels aren't as troublesome as containers of liquid
Keep a "chip clip" or 2 in your beach bag. You can use the clips to keep your beach towel on your chair or to turn your beach towel into an impromptu sarong.
I keep dryer sheets in each of our vehicles. When its love bug season I just dampen the sheets and rub on the area and they get rid of the love bugs.
In an emergency, replace the collar stays in your dress shirts by cutting the ends of the metal rods found in hanging folders to the length and slant you need. They work great. Remove the metal rods from your shirts when you're not wearing them to protect the fabric from rust.
