Keeping in Touch

When we were little, Sunday afternoon was for visiting! Now with family & friends sometimes out of state, I make Sunday a day for reaching out and touching someone through calls or emails. To save time, I make a newsletter and can send it to numerous family members at the same time! I always end with "I love you."

Save the Planet

Canvas shopping bags are worth their weight in gold. Not only do they hold more (ever buy $25 worth of groceries and end up with 25 plastic bags?) but they are much sturdier too. Because they are square, square corners on cereal boxes can't penetrate them. If you accidentally leave your canvas bags at home, ask for paper bags and recycle these as garbage or recycling bags.

A Pat on the Back

It's so easy to pat someone else on the back for doing well, so why not yourself? At least once a week, reach that arm over your shoulder and pat your own back for a job well done. Then laugh about it. It's okay!!

Busy kids kept quiet

When I was a child ADD & ADHD wasn't diagnosed and children like myself were considered to be bad. My grandmother knew better and figured out how to keep me happy and quiet especially in place where children don't have anything to do. She would put baggies in her purse that had different things in each one, like a writing pad and a couple of crayons or little lip sticks with a small mirror and some scott tissue to clean up after. There is nothing more irratating than unprepaired and stressed

An Apology Works Wonders

Never, ever be too stubborn or proud to extend an apology when you know it's needed. The very simple words "I'm sorry" can resolve the most complex issues if, indeed, the apology is sincere. If it's not, don't waste your time on idle words.

Tips from Mother

My mother always said, "Always treat people like you want to be treated" and "Love everyone -- you just don't have to love their ways" and "Always go to church and love the Lord and you can see me again in heaven." Those words are embedded in my heart. Mother was the happiest person I knew.

Use Less Plastic

I have stopped buying bottled water to help reduce the amount of plastics in our landfills. I now have a reusable water bottle and keep it filled up with tap water. Let's all do our part to keep our world beautiful.
