Rainy Day Wind Chimes

Here's an easy kid's project! Collect 3 empty SCOTT Towel rolls and 2 empty SCOTT Tissue rolls. Cut them in various lengths and let your child decorate them with construction paper, tape, crayons, markers or pictures from magazines. (I printed out family photos on my copier for my grandson to glue onto the tubes.) Tie them close together on a pipe cleaner circle with colorful yarn, and you have a beautiful wind chime!

Gift-wrapped Tree Treat

When planting a sapling or transplanting a bush, use this hint to cleanly deliver fertilizer pellets or stakes. Slip the fertilizer pellet into an empty SCOTT toilet paper roll, drop it into the hole near the root ball and cover. By the time the roll disintegrates, the plant's new roots will be ready to enjoy the feast. It keeps your fingers clean, too.

plant treats

Give your plants a shot of potassium this quick and sooo easy way. Once you've had your banana for the day, take the peel and cut into 1-3 inch pieces. Drop into your blender with a couple of cups of water and whip for a few seconds. Strain into your watering can and finish filling up with water. Give your leafy friends a nice drink. Indoor Make Believe Sand Box

To keep your younger kids busy, lay out a large sheet on the floor and give them a variety of dried beans and rice (just dump them on the sheet) to use like they would use sand with their toy tractors and trucks. My boys would play for hours non-stop. When they were finished, I would use the sheet to dump the "sand" in to a container to store it until next time. If children are younger, keep watch to be sure they don't eat the "sand" or put it in their noses and ears.

Organic Fertilizer

To make organic fertilizer ("Bat Guano Tea"), mix 1 Tablespoon bat guano into 1 gallon warm water. Let it sit for 24 hours. Shake it up well and serve to your plants. I water my plants three times per week with this bat guano tea solution. Its organic and my plants love it. You'll love the results!

Start Planting Seeds

To start your seeds early, place two sheets of Scott Towels into a zip-top bag. Add a little bit of water and carefully place the seeds you want to get started on the towel and seal. In a few days, the seeds will begin to sprout.

Close Those Curtains

When traveling, bring along a large binder clip. It works extremely well in closing the curtains of the hotel room & keeping the sunlight (or street lights) out.

Trophy Reuse

Recently I used an old bowling trophy for an office team building bowling outing. The trophy went to the bowler with the highest game. I covered the plate on the trophy with a label (name and high game score).
