Garlic for Fleas

In response to The common sense tip of the day on Feb. 12, from Renee in Pasadena. Garlic is potentially harmful to dogs and cats as it can damage their red blood cells and cause anemia. I would advise against using it to prevent fleas.

Warm PJs on cold nights

I am the delighted owner of a heated towel bar, but an electric blanket would work as well: about an hour before bed, put your pyjamas on the towel bar/under the blanket and turn it on. When it's time to turn in your pjs are already warm and ready to help you fall asleep!

Fun for the family dog

I take the empty Scott paper towel tubes and bend the one end over some and then fill the tube with dog treats and bend the other end over. Give to the family dog to tear apart/play with and get treats out.

Shredding PAPER without a shredder.

Once you have finished your dishes, leave your soapy dish water in the sink, if the water is dirty, that's okay. One at a time, place your paper pages that you wish to destroy. Leave setting in the dirty dish water for a few minutes, until all paper is soaked. Squeeze water from paper, then trash, or use for paper mache.

Quick clean up!!

While cleaning up dinner, instead of dirtying up tupperware or throw-away containers to store left-overs, just put your left-overs in a ziplock bag and put it in the fridge!! It not only saves time, and space, it saves a few dishes to wash!! Talk about a win, win situation. I have done this for years!!

Save your cell phone

I keep my cell in it's own little pocket in my purse so it doesn't get scratched up & I add one of those little moisture packets in the pocket with it(the ones that are in purses when you buy them). I'm in S. FL and it gets very humid which is bad for cell batteries, so the packet keeps it dry!!

Vanilla Coffee

Buy vanilla flavored cappuccino power at the grocery store and add it to regular coffee and you have vanilla flavor coffee. You could make cold vanilla flavor coffee also.

Soap Spill - By Accident

I was refilling my antibacterial hand soap when I dropped the bottle on my counter. Instead of wiping and throwing away the excess, I took a wet dish cloth and used it to clean my kitchen counter. I continued on and did all of my cabinets and appliances. I wiped everything dry with SCOTT® Towels. It left my kitchen clean and fresh smelling.
