If you use the sniff test to check the ripeness or freshness of cantaloupes, pineapples, fish, etc., don't apply any scents, especially scented hand lotion, before heading to the grocery. Your scent will make it almost impossible to smell the food.

I found that when my batteries won't work in everyday electronics, I use a pencil eraser to clean the connections. It saves on buying new batteries when you don't have to. It's an old trick that we all forget.
