Space bags

My mom went on a 30 day cruise from Rome to the Bahamas she used the Space Bags, she got to bring more and at the end of the trip she asked the cleaning people on the cruise ship if she could use their sweepers with a hose.

Take Your Own Pillow

We like to take our own pillows when we travel, but we've left them behind in our hotel room more than once. Now we always use patterned pillowcases and carry the pillows in a bright yellow trash bag. They are never forgotten now!

Packing Lightly

Pack for a trip in outfits, for example, one for Saturday daytime, one for dinner, one for Sunday, etc. Roll your clothes instead of folding them and you'll nearly double your usable space!

Easy Shoe Bag

Save the plastic bag that your newspaper comes in for a shoe bag. When packing for a trip, place shoes in the bags to protect your clothes from dirt.

Travel helper

I use a clear plastic zippered bag that you get when you purchase linens etc as a trip organizer. I put in maps, pens, paper, pen light and toll money. Easy to see and all right in one place. Fits under seat console for ease and convenience.

Vacation Watering for Plants

When you're going on vacation, fill the bottom of your bathtub with a small amount of water. Let your household plants sit in the water, then take off on vacation and don't worry about your plants drying out. It really works!!

Plastic Milk Jugs

I use gallon plastic milk jugs to store plastic grocery bags by cutting a hole in the side and stuffing the bags inside. (I use these bags to toss cat litter clumps.) I also keep a jug filled with bags in the car to have bags handy to throw away take-out food trash.

Packing for Kids

When packing for a trip with small children, place each outfit (including underwear and socks) in a gallon-size plastic bag. Each day, they only need to pick out a bag, and everything that goes together is ready to wear. Place dirty clothes back in the bag for the return trip so nothing gets lost.
