I find that if you go in a room that needs a fresh pick-up, gather misplaced items in a hamper and sort later.
Paint the inside of one kitchen cabinet door with blackboard paint. Then attach chalk on a string with a tack to have a hidden, but accessible place for messages and grocery lists. Glue corkboard on the opposite cabinet to tack up cards, appointments, etc.
we often have 2 liter plastic drink bottles, and have found that if we remove the cap and crush the bottle it takes less space in trash can, even in the recycle bin.
Keep your knives in the rolls, so no one gets cut looking for one. I organize my rolls in the draw, small to large. I put the sharp edges in the rolls leaving the handles out. You can even spray paint the cardboard to make them look better.
I had been ill and the house was cluttered in an overwhelming way. I made a chart on paper, dividing each room in half, to make check marks for each of the following: Trash, Recycling, Dishes, Clothing, Dusting, Glass Cleaning, Filing, Shredding, Clearing, Putting Away Stuff, Vacuuming, and Mopping. I was always forgetting my coupons when I would go to the store, then I tried this and it's been working like a charm. If you take an envelope and tape it to your front door and write on the outside COUPONS and you put your coupons in it then every time you are ready to leave the house you are more likely to remember to take them with you.
Instead of using a pillow to stuff my shams, I store extra blankets in them. Saves storage space & bed still look good!
When the floor-to-ceiling lamps no longer function as lamps, they can be repurposed as clothes hanger racks.
