Storing extra blankets on high shelves is difficult. Roll the bedding and secure with a bungie cord. Then you can store them on those high shelves and they are easier to see, and easier to remove without the whole stack tumbling down.
Cut a piece of cardboard into the shape of a capital " i ", then wrap the lights on the inside! Saves you a headache for next year by keeping them untangled, and if you use cardboard from opened presents, you are also recycling!
I use the small plastic swipes box when it is empty and fill it with Q-tips. It's a much smaller box and I can keep some in my room and in the bathroom.
You must have your medicines identifiable in traveling. Save one set of old prescription bottles and fill with amount of medications you will need to take while traveling. No need to carry full bottles of pills.
To keep your cutlery sharp put the sharpener in a drawer or cabinet near the cuterly block. That way it is handy to run a knife through the sharpener before each use so your knives are always sharp and ready for use.
I have a good sized paper shredder, and I shred all the "black and white" junk mail and put it in "used plastic bags for recycle ever week or so. I do not shred the "colored printed" paper because I am not sure that is reusable because of the ink. So I use separate used plastic bags for it. I do this every day, at my desk at home, but it could be done once a week. I also line my shredder container with several bags, and I also keep (under my desk) several used plastic bags. I have several seasonal wreaths for my door. When changing them, I hang them on a hangar, then into a spare closet. Easily organized by holiday or season & can be covered by a small trash bag to keep the dust away. Each particular wreath is now easily found instead of digging out a big storage box.
Any woman or anyone with a daughter knows that hair accessories can get unorganized fast. We've put them in small plastic drawers, which worked, but we found a better way: Take an old Scott toilet paper or paper towel core (cardboard middle) and wrap hair ties around it. You can also put hair clips & bobby pins etc. on the ends. Two glued together make a good headband holder. They can be plain and under the counter or can be decorated (wrapped in decrotive cloth, painted, etc.) and put a base on for sitting upright on a counter or mounting on a wall. Makes a good gift idea as well, decorate to the girls taste & fill up with hair items from a dollar store!
