Freezing Ground Beef

You need a rolling pin, freezer bags and hamburger meet. Remove the ground beef from its package and put it in the freezer bag. Roll the rolling pin across the bag to flatten the hamburger as thin as you can get it without going over the zip top. Seal and it's ready for the freezer. It takes up less room in the freezer and takes no time at all to thaw out. Works for me!

Storing Open Rolls of Gift Wrap

To keep your opened roll of gift wrap neat, but still visible, use the leg off a pair of old panty hose or a knee high stocking to keep the open roll in. It won't unroll and get wrinkled or dog-eared. Unlike tucking it inside the paper tube, you can still see the design with this technique, so you'll always grab the right paper when needed.

Bottle Bag Cooler

Instead of carrying an extra ice pack in an insulated bottle bag, just freeze a bottle with water. When the water melts, you have a refreshing drink at the end of the day and you can also recycle the bottle for a lighter bag on your way home.

Awards

Put paper awards that the kids get into an empty SCOTT paper towel tube. Mark the name of the child on the tube. Store away to give to them when they are older. This keeps them neat.

Rubber Bands

To keep all your rubber bands together and for easy accessibility, put them on an unused shower curtain ring.

Better Sheet Storage

With limited space in my house, I bought three long, under-the-bed storage bins for our sheets. My son has the sheets that fit his full bed in his storage bin and we have two bins for ours. It freed up a whole shelf in our hall closet!

Spinning Spices

I've found that the best way to keep spices is in alphabetical order on a spinning rack. That way, you can go right to the letter in the alphabet you're looking for.

Lite Bright

When my child plays with his Lite Bright (or any toy with lots of small pieces), I get an old muffin tin. I place all the colored lites in a spot, so when he plays with it he can find the right color without dumping the sack. It also makes for easy clean-up.
