One in Two Out

To un-clutter a messy house, make a deal with yourself to remove two items for every new one you bring home. Recycle or donate the used items!

Ziploc Bags

When organizing junk drawers I sort small items and put them in baggies. You can see through them and find what you need easily and nothing gets lost. I also do that with pantyhose/extra makeup, etc.

Freezing Foods

Instead of storing too many plastic containers, just line the ones you have with a zip lock bag, fill and freeze. When frozen remove the zip lock bag and you are ready to use the plastic container again.

Simple sheet storage

Store your folded sheet sets and extra matching pillow cases inside one of the pillow cases from the set. Your shelves stay neater, and you save yourself some frustration the next time you need to change your sheets!

Catalog Dates

Whenever a new catalog comes in the mail, I write its expiration date on the front cover with black marker. Then I file the catalogs with the closest expiration dates in the front. It makes it very easy to know when they are out of date.

Easy labels for food leftovers

I keep a little envelope to save small scraps of white paper. I use them to write date & description of food leftovers. A tiny piece of removable scotch tape sticks it to any dry container. When the container is empty, the tape & label peel right off. No hard to clean residue. They will also float right off in the wash if you forget to remove them.

Hideaway Waste Baskets

Put two cup hooks on the back of the lower bathroom cabinet door, and hang your plastic grocery store bags by their handles. Now you have a hidden bag to dispose of your trash. On trash day, simply remove the bag from the hooks and tie a knot in the bag to toss.
