My holiday bins are color coded, making it easier to find what I need. Christmas = red, Halloween = orange, Easter = purple, Valentine's/anniversary type stuff = pink, etc. Most holidays only have one bin, except Christmas, and I usually take all my Christmas decorations out at once to set up, so it isn't really necessary to know exactly what is in each bin. This way I don't ruin the bins by trying to write on them or tape on labels that fall off.
