Use the cylinder from a Scott Tissue roll to store your power cords for portable appliances and tools. All you have to do is roll the cord as it was when it was new and put it into the cylinder. It keeps the cord secure and you don't have to find an extra-large twisty tie.
I remove food items that come in cardboard boxes, such as freezer waffles, toaster pastries, packages of soup; and put them in freezer bags. If there are instructions, I cut them out and slip them into the bag. It saves a lot of space and keeps things fresher.
Having bought a new small car, I was frustrated that the trunk cargo net only held about four bags of groceries. Everything that was placed behind the net rolled around in the trunk on the way home from the grocery store. I bought 4 back-to-school plastic crates to hold my groceries. No more items getting lost! I added a cheap foam cooler for cold items too. No more melted butter and ice cream!
Put recipes on index cards and store them in a small photo album to keep them neat and clean.
I use the empty rolls to keep my patio lights organized. I cut a notch in the end and tuck the plug inside the roll. I wind the lights around and secure the end of the lights in a notch at the other end. Works great to keep all the lights from turning into a mess of knots and tangles.
