Save Time in the Morning

As a nurse, I require lots of things in my pockets for daily use. They include ink pens, lipstick, a work phone, sunglasses, extra paper, scissors, change, a pager, name badge, car keys and a few other items. Recently I started emptying my pockets into a quart-sized freezer bag when I come home, then all I need to do in the morning when I leave is pick up the bag and go.

Morning Meds

Now that we are retired, we use a plastic shoe box and put all our daily medications in it. We keep it in the pantry and bring it to the table after breakfast. It's very convenient for us.

STRAW NECKLACE

USE A STRAW TO KEEP NECKLACE CHAINS FROM TANGLING. EVEN BENDY STRAWS WORK WELL. JUST CUT A SMALL SLIT IN THE END OF THE STRAW AND FEED THE CHAIN THROUGH THE STRAW. AT THE OTHER END OF THE STRAW WILL BE THE DECORATION ON YOUR NECKLACE; SO CUT A SLIT IN THAT END OF THE STRAW AND YOUR DECORATION WILL LAY FLAT IN YOUR JEWELRY DRAWER.

Paying Bills

Pick one day of the week to sit down and pay bills. When bills arrive, log their pay date in a pocket calendar, subtracting at least one week from the due date to allow for mailing. Keep the pocket calendar and your bills together in a large envelope. This way you will never be late and bills won't pile up. Of course, reward yourself with a cup of tea after the checks have been written on bill day.

Sorting Socks

Keep a dish of safety pins near the dirty clothes hamper. Pin the heels of each sock pair together before putting them into the hamper. They go through the wash and dry cycles as pairs, and there's no sorting when it's time to fold and put away!

Operating Manuals

An easy way to have instruction manuals at hand is by using three-ring binders. Separate them by category, such as yard, kitchen, etc. If the manual is too thick for a hole puncher, use a large nail and hammer to make the holes.

Keep earrings organized

Store earrings in clear plastic weekly pill boxes. They stay in pairs and you can see them through the plastic. You just flip open the compartment and get the pair you want and the others stay in their place. No more lost earrings!
