Coupons

There are numerous coupon sites on the Internet where you can print off coupons, not only for groceries, but all other things, as well. (Try PrintCoupons.com, Couponmom.com and eversave.com.) The SCOTT® Brand site has coupons, as does Betty Crocker, Pillsbury, Pepsi/Mountain Dew, Coca Cola, etc. Your local papers may have links to coupons too. Look under "search" and type coupons. Return Envelopes

Online bill paying has taken over using the mail for most of us. I use the return envelopes, with the little windows, to organize my coupons, then I write my grocery shopping list on the envelope. It's easy to handle and can be recycled after use.

Conserving Gasoline

I make a list of all the stores I need to shop at for the month. I go online to see when the stores have what I want during that month on sale. I coordinate my shopping at stores located near each other. Then, I make one trip and buy everything I need for the month. If I limit my shopping trips to every 2 weeks or once a month, I save almost two-thirds on gas and the shopping bills.

Grocery Lists

I really appreciate the printable shopping list on the Common Sense Community site. It sure helps stop impulse buying, when I follow "My Grocery List."

Thrifty Bread Store

Thrifty Bread Stores have discount prices for breads and pastry items for half price or less. Buying in quanity and freezing most bread does not hurt it at all. In fact, I believe it improves it, at times.

Healthy Hint

If your store doesn't provide cart wipes, take a SCOTT Towel and hand cleaner in your purse into the grocery store. Spray the towel before you select a shopping cart or touch it, Wipe off the handle as you take hold of it and start your shopping. Wipe your hands after you handle money or your store "bonus tag." Wipe the car door opening handle too, if you can think of it.
