Soap- bug spray

To kill mosquitos/cockroaches easily, just fill a clean spray-bottle with water and a squeeze of dish detergent, then shake. Spray the bugs, this will quickly kill them. This is very inexpensive, and environmentaly safe.

Deep Freeze

You like to camp but just can't seem to keep ice in the cooler? Use empty milk jugs. Make sure they are clean and fill them up with water leaving a 3 inch head space for expansion. Place in the freezer till needed. Keeps a cooler cold for days.

Not so Much Dishwasher Detergent

I realized that I don't have to fill both soap containers to the full line in my dishwasher for my dishes to come out clean. I fill both containers half full and my dishes come out just as clean as when I used to fill them all the way up. My dishwashing soap lasts twice as long now. If you use this tip, try experimenting by cutting your soap down by about a quarter to start with, and if that works, go to the one-half amount.

Mop with Scott

Those new sweeper products are the best. I use them everyday to clean the bathroom floor. However, the sheets that come with them are quite expensive. I use my Scott paper towels to sweep with. Much cheaper and does the job just as well as the other brands expensive sheets.

Clean Without a Ring

I love to take baths, but sometimes I don't have bubble bath. What I do is take a small amount of moisturizing dish liquid and pour it under the running water. Wow! You now have lots of bubbles and no ring is left around the tub.

Paint drop cloths

When I am painting I re-use my old flannel-backed table cloths as drop cloths for floors and furniture. The vinyl prevents paint messes and the flannel backing helps the drop cloth stay in place.

No-waste Steel Wool Pads

When I buy a new box of steel wool pads, I use my kitchen scissors to cut each pad in half. The half-size pad is the perfect size for any dirty pan. After the pads have been cut, the shears have been cleaned and sharpened!

Getting the Last Drop from Spray Bottles

Spray bottles with cleaning products, etc. tend to leave a good amount of product that you can't seem to spray out no matter how you turn or adjust the sprayer. Purchase a small pump spray bottle from the "trial/travel size" bin in your local drugstore or grocery store, and carefully pour the unused product in it. You will get your dollar's worth.
