Drying Clothes

One way I save money is to hang my clothes on wire clothes hangers, turn the handle around, and hang on doors, rods and really anywhere that would support the weight. I figure that I already am paying to heat or cool my house, and I can now make it do double duty with drying clothes. Also, it puts moisture in the air, so using a moisturizer is not needed on those days.

Saving on Water Bills

When I wash dishes, I don't let the water run to rinse them. I fill a big container or the second sink with hot water and place the dishes to be rinsed in it. It saves on my water bills and rinses the soapy dishes better.

Not so Much Dishwasher Detergent

I realized that I don't have to fill both soap containers to the full line in my dishwasher for my dishes to come out clean. I fill both containers half full and my dishes come out just as clean as when I used to fill them all the way up. My dishwashing soap lasts twice as long now. If you use this tip, try experimenting by cutting your soap down by about a quarter to start with, and if that works, go to the one-half amount.

Baby Wipes

I cut a roll of SCOTT® Towels in half, soak it in equal amounts of water and baby wash. Then I put it in a container and it is ready to use. It's a lot cheaper than buying wipes.

Making that Expensive Lettuce Last

Remove lettuce from store wrapping; remove any outside leaves that are less than fresh. Wrap the whole head in at least 2 layers of SCOTT® Towels. Keep in the veggie crisper drawer of refigerator. I can keep lettuce fresh for 3 times as long as normal with this method.

Easy Cleaning Wipes

Take several individual sheets of SCOTT® Towels, then cut them in half. Put them in a plastic container or old baby wipe container and add about 1/2 cup of your favorite all-purpose cleaner. Let them soak. Then when you need a quick clean up, just take a sheet out and wipe away. They are quick and easy and much cheapier than ready-made cleaning wipes.

Saving Money on Tissue

I always have both single ply and double ply toilet paper available in my bathroom. Sometimes single ply will do and sometimes double ply is better. This way, I still can afford to use the more expensive double ply when necessary. It allows people on a budget to still have a bit of luxury.
