Cilantro Saver

We all know that when you buy cilantro or even parsley you have it use it right away or it will wilt and loose its freshness quickly. Instead of throwing it away after a few uses you can keep it fresh for a couple weeks. Simply take your cilantro, trim the bottom of the stem and place it in a cup. Add just enough water to the cup so the stems are covered. Keep this in your refrigerator and your cilantro will stay fresh for up to 2 weeks. Replacing the water a couple times helps too!

Soap Scraps Toilet Cleaner

When bar soap gets down to little pieces, I just lift the tank lid on the back of the toilet and toss them in there. It keeps my bowl clean as the soap slowly melts.

Weed Killer

4 cups of white vinegar - 1/4 white table salt - 1 to 2 tsps of liguid dish detergent. Mix together and put in a spray bottle. Use fine spray and spray weeds between patio cracks and whereever weeds grow. Do not spray near grass or flower beds. Avoid walking over where you sprayed and keep children away, as the spray can be tracked on your shoes. It is cheap, safe for the environment and works. Rain will wash it away, so use on a sunny day. I've used this for years, and it works great.

Crispy Coatings

We save the ends of our bread loaves to make our own breadcrumbs. We also save all the broken bits of crackers and the bits left over from different cereals (the not so sugary ones). We store them in a zipper top plastic bag in the freezer. When the different flavours are combined they make a great crispy coating for chicken or pork.

Substitute Mildew Remover

Instead of buying a mildew remover shower spray you can substitute vinegar in a spray bottle. Simply use a sponge to wipe away mildew and shower stains. Spray down the inside of the shower and the curtain once a day to prevent more mildew.

Vinegar Instead of Dryer Sheets

Originally I heard if you add a 1/2 cup of vinegar in with your laundry detergent it will prevent static when you transfer the clothes to the dryer. This was not working well for me. I now keep a spray bottle of vinegar next to the dryer and simply spray a few squirts on my clothes as I toss them into the dryer. I can assure you your clothes won't smell like vinegar and they'll be static free!

No More Plush Paper

We were having problems with our toilets not flushing properly. We felt that our septic system probably needed to be pumped out. Thank heaven my husband thought to have me replace the "plush" toilet paper with SCOTT® Extra Soft. We barely noticed the difference, but our septic system sure did. No more flushing problems, and we are no longer thinking of having it pumped out
